Either way, it sounds like they have the ability to work with him and the language barrier at the American school.
Have you guys been talking to him about this at all? I just worry about how he'll react if he just gets tossed into the American school without any preparing, so to say. Like you guys talking to him about what's going to happen, how it'll be, that he will learn English, the school work will be different, ect.. But reassure him it'll be okay. Again, it's a personal preference & something only you & your husband can decide on. but that's my 2 cents. ![]() I've worked with kids for years.. I've done day care, pre-school, and interned in a Kindergarten for a whole year.. As well as taken a child development class. So that's my opinion and 2 cents for what it's wroth. Good luck with your decision.

Yes we have talked to him about this. I want to take him there this week so he can go have a look at the classrooms and the playground...he wants to learn english but he said that he won't have friends , i told him that there are other boys and girls there and he will make new friends. There are also other german children that will be in his class too....that might help him!

It'll defiantly be an adjustment for him.. And it might not be easy. But I am sure within at least a month he'll have made new friends. Especially if there will be other German kids in his class.

If I remember correctly from what my mom has told me, they start English in 1st grade in Germany now. Maybe just enroll him in some extra curricular activities on base for kids his age for now?

![]() From my experience with the german school system vs the American, I'd pick the German system anyday, even over the US international schools. His English will come along just fine. He doesn't need to be out of his "German" environment to learn it...
