![]() please dont be too mean. i was in our room with dd putting laundry away and i turned to put something in the drawer and THUD. poor dd managed to roll over the folded laundry on the part of the bed that had no pillow to keep her on the bed right on to her back.. she cried for afew moments... but as a first time mommy what should i be looking for to see if something is wrong. right now shes laughing, playing, having her juice(so she is taking bottle) and no bruises or redness on the back of her head. i feel so bad... but somehow i managed to stay calm for her... but im crying inside

It's happened to a lot of moms and babies... as long as she stopped crying, her eyes aren't unevenly dilated, there's no bump raising, or bleeding I think she's ok... I just wouldn't let her go to sleep for an hour, and should ANYTHING change, I'd make an ER run.

Don't blame yourself, it was an accident. Check her for bumps and bruises over the next couple of hours, but it sounds like she'll be fine. I know how you feel though, my ds was hanging on to our dog and fell when he was younger. They bounce back pretty good

oh honey! don't worry too much about it! that is what kids do...they fall. what's important to do is that you keep a cool head even though your heart jumps into your nose! If you starting freaking out, they will get upset and cry hard, making you think they broke something. Whenever my boys, 2 and 13 mos, ever get hurt or fall, I just ask if they are ok and then if they start crying, I will comfort them and remind them to be careful. You are not a bad mom be/c gravity was tested and worked.

Something very similar happened to me when DD was young. I was devastated. Look for the things Melissa said and if you're in doubt, take her in to get her checked over. These things DO happen to many people, don't beat yourself up. Just, maybe put her in a swing next time instead of on the bed (that was my solution).

Things like this happen all the time, so you're not a bad mother! DH had dd roll off the bed when she was a tiny baby.....only bruised his ego. Soon you'll be an ole pro and know when it's an emergency and when it's one of life's little reminders that we're all human!
Glad she's ok!
