Xbox help

DH wants a Xbox for Christmas. I am completely out of the loop in the gaming world and he isn't much better. I know the main differences between the Arcade and Elite are memory, cables, and the headset thingy, righT? I don't know which one to get?? Like I said we aren't huge gamers so it will mainly be used for regular games and Netflix. What's the headset thingy for? Do you think the Arcade version will work for us or should we really get the Elite? What all does the Xbox do besides games and Netflix? Sorry for all the questions. TIA

Well, we have both the Elite and the plain old 360. Im going to say that if youre only using it for playing games and you dont plan on downloading a bunch of games or content (themes, photos...that kind of stuff), you can probably get by with just the Arcade. If for some reason yall run out of memory, you can always upgrade the hard drive, since theyre also sold separately. I believe the Elite comes with the HDMI cable and the regular one doesnt, but weve used both on our HD tv and I really dont think it made much of a difference. And besides playing games and Netflix, you can surf the internet (a little bit...it came up basically looking like you were doing it from a phone the one and only time I used it), you can connect an external hard drive or plug in a thumb drive and view photos, play music, watch movies/videos. I my xbox Oh, and the headset is for communicating when youre on Xbox Live (playing with other gamers around the world). It comes in handy if youre playing with friends from all over who you havent seen in forever (weve got a lot of friends we talk to who have been stationed elsewhere, and some even just deployed).
