    You Need A Budget

    Advertisements
You Need a Budget aka:YNAB - is the best thing that my husband and I have ever found. We've always been pretty good with money, but this budget program is amazing. It's been a rougher transition going from military life to civilian life and let me tell you YNAB has saved us a lot and got us back on track. My SIL and her husband have also started using it. They have a decent amount of credit card debt and they have been able to pay off a big portion of it even in the 2 months they've been using it. We've also gotten a few friends to use it and they love it too. It's easy to understand, there are videos and free classes for people in all different scenarios, it also has a mobile app. It's also nice because they all sync, your computer, your phone, your husband's phone automatically sync.

There is a 30 day free trial period and it's also FREE for students! Figured I would let you all know about it. If you do the free trial and you want to buy it and you're not a student, I do have a referral code that will get you some money off. Anyway, I wanted to pop in and tell you all about it because I literally tell everyone about it. It's been a legit life changer.

I tried this and just could not wrap my head around it. I guess I should probably try again though, now that DH and I have a mortgage to track and everything.

Did you watch the "how to" videos about it? That's going to be your biggest help. We've watched a ton of their videos.

    I might look into this.
Put on your big girl panties and deal with it like a boss.

I gave it a try, but I ended up not really liking it. Mostly because I became completely obsessed with it and my thoughts became all about my money and where it was going. I didn't really notice it was a problem until I was hanging out with DB one night and he called me out for not really being mentally present with him. I was thinking/worrying about my budget. It didn't really provide me with many benefits, but I know many other folks have had a lot of success with it. So, not trying to knock it -- it's absolutely worth that 30-day free trial! It just wasn't a fit for me personally.

This, my poor brain can't seem to grasp it. I want it to work though.

That system is not best for me and my needs but I LOVE Mint. I've saved over $2000 due to being more aware of my budget.
