    Help Another Tax question.

    Advertisements
    I'm freaking out.

E went to H&R block and filed his taxes a few weeks ago. We had a JOP on the 27th of December. The person who did his taxes filed his as single and told him he didn't have to file married until next year. Is that right? Do we need to amend his return? I'm seriously freaking out because it seems like this dude fucked up E's taxes.

I would call H&R block or like a turbo tax and ask them that question.

If you were married for any part of 2013 you can file jointly OR married filing separately but cannot file single. Fuck H&R block. them, liberty tax, jackson hewitt... you need NO accounting experience to get hired. You go through a few hours training and then get hired at $7-$10 an hour. I have accounting courses under my belt, worked as an accounting clerk for a CPA and for NYS health department and then down here I was like shit, yeah liberty is hiring. They offered me $7.50 an hour after going through their liek 6 hour training that was bullshit and only taught you how to fill out the different forms because the computers do the work. If you get your taxes done professionally go to a real accountant. The big block stores you're tossing money away, it's better to do it yourself.

With that said amending a return isn't too hard.

OK, I have an appointment with them tomorrow. Should I bring E's stuff with me and see what they say? I'm considering taking our stuff to my parents' tax people.

    ITA...

Even if you got married at 11:50pm on 12/31/2013 you can file joint. He needs to amend it... tell H&R to piss up a rope.

There are 10 types of people in the world, those that understand binary and those that don't

No we did but they told him to file single. he figured they knew what they were talking about. We don't have to go to the tax office together to file...
