    How much?

    Poll coming!

And this is either per year, or per pay period since, in theory, the percentage should be the same.

And this is savings, stocks, bonds etc... but NOT for kids, just for you two or yourself

ETA- I mean money thats saved for retirement/future/emergency, not money that you are saving for a kid college, or something specific to purchase or have money for in the future (vacations, homes, etc..)

Oh an my answer, right now we are saving like 60% since MF is deployed and I dont use his money. But I answered 13-15% because thats about what we save each month specifically for retirement. When I (finally) start working we hope to save about 30% our total income.

Right now while I'm interning fulltime (unpaid), we only save about 8-10%. When I was working, we saved about 25%-33%

What do you mean not for kids? We have a general savings account and some of it is intended for our future children, but its all kind of lumped together.

I would say we try to shoot for 5 percent.

I mean if you are saving to buy something or saving or a kids college or something thats not long term for the future/emergency/retirement money. I am wondering just about that.

Right now we try for over 50% around 55, once DH is home we're still going to try for 25% or more, I have a feeling it will probably fluctuate between 20 and 25 though because we spend a lot of money on fitness related gear / supplements / protein.

I would say about 40%. We could totally do more but we like to buy things.

Nothing, because we are getting utterly and completely drained by dental surgeries in the next six months. Everything has to go to that right now.
