How do we file living in separate states?

I live and work in Florida. DH is stationed in Hawaii but his home of record is Florida. How do we file? Can we file together without actually being together? (No, right?) Someone tell me how this works!

    *our taxes, I mean lolol

You can file together without living together.
Since he is AD, he will claim FL as his residency which doesn't have a state tax anyway, so you are fine.

The only thing that would matter among different states is if you both paid state taxes separately, and you are not.

Even if you did pay separate state taxes, that shouldn't be a problem, you would just file multiple state returns. The first year DH and I filed together I had to file three different state returns for myself and two for him- it was just a matter of entering the correct amounts of taxed income on each state return. It'll be ok!

you would need a POA to sign his name, even electronically.

but DH and I live in seperate states we both claim fl, we are lucky and he just comes home to do the taxes.

Must be because I'm pretty sure I've 'signed' electronically for him before.... since I am the one that does our taxes ... IDK
