    Those of you with babies...

How do you plan on saving for your child(ren) for college? I know some people just have a savings account and others invest it into an IRA or special type of college fund.

We need to start considering these for DD and I'm not quite sure which we want to go with yet.

I dont have kids by I plan on doing the same thing as my parents- they put some money every month into a (I believe) 405 account, which is the college account with the government. They also put some into stocks/bonds since they grow faster and they did that for 20 years so by the time I got to college, I had more than enough. They also had a savings account. So my money was spread all over the place. And I plan to do the same for my kid.

We started a savings account for him when he was born. We & our families put money into it every month & he can't touch it until he's 18. By then, he's old enough to decide whether he wants to go to college or not.

"Thank you so much. No matter what, nothing is possible without you behind the scenes bustin heads and takin names. Thank you again. Everything you have done for me means a lot and nothing has gone unnoticed. I love you so much and thank you for saying 'I do.'"

DS has a 529 plan (savings account for college specifically) which we contribute to every month and family/friends have/will contribute to as well for birthdays/Christmas.

We have a savings account. My parents invested me and my siblings college money in stocks and the timing just sucked since I graduated highschool in 2003 right when everything was horrible. I will never do that now with my kids education money.
