    Roth TSP

Is the Roth TSP matched by the Army? How much do you have to contribute in order to get a match? Or is it not matched at all?

Seeing that there is no match, Suze Orman says that you should look to invest elsewhere since they have more variety. I used USAA and my husband used Fidelity. We are both investment newbies though.

No, for military, there isn't a match on any TSP funds. Civilian federal employees get a match, but military gets the robust retirement pension instead.

The Roth TSP is a great (and easy!) way to save for retirement. Sign up on myPay to get the ball rolling and every time you get a pay raise or promotion bump up what you're saving without "feeling the pain." And when your spouse is deployed contributions you've got the ability to take tax free money and put it into the Roth TSP and then take it out tax free in retirement...tax-free in and tax-free out...very cool.
