    Help Budgeting a Trip

    Advertisements
    Hi ladies, I was hoping to get some help! I need to work a budget out for myself over the next 6 months/ year. In six months I hope to make a trip to see my boyfriend in Okinawa and need to save every penny. If you have any ideas as to what to cut out other then the obvious [clothes, beauty products] anything advice you can give would be greatly appreciated.

    when I need to budget for something I re-evaluate my entire spending-

    so write down what you MUST spend money on;

    rent
    car payment
    insurance: car/ medical
    gas
    food
    internet/phone

    then the next catagory
    what you can cut down or cut out:
    eating out
    clothes
    beauty products
    movies
    cable
    going out with friends

    then look at what money you have left over-

    then set a vacation budget:
    your flight
    eating
    lodging
    transportation
    souveniers

    then divide that amount by the number of months you have before your trip; that is what you need to save every month.
    then start cutting out the extras, put yourself on a self imposed spending freeze;
    whe I do this I commit to buying only things I absolutely NEED- no ice cream chips or cookies from the store, no new nail polish, no music or movie down loads.
    I also think if it is not broke, torn or worn out it does not get replaced.

    I agree with gunsgirl, that's the best thing you can do. Be honest about numbers with yourself so you can truly save enough money.

    Thanks, it's going to be an expensive trip but worth it. I'm just going to have to sit down and take a realistic look at income vs spending.

    Just remember how great it's going to be to go! It'll definitely be worth all the saving.

    Yea I know ladies! Hopefully he will have leave to see me for a few days. They could always send him out for training without letting him know until the day before. Which has happened a lot as of late for him.

    I try to take everything in stride and for the most part I do; and try to be as understanding about it as possible because I know its not his fault. If it were his choice he would take me with him. Even though inside I feel like !!!
