    Tax question - I wounded my w2

    Advertisements
As per usual, I owe the state of Oklahoma money for taxes. Whatevs.

    I was preparing my envelope and...I ripped a w2

It's straight up ripped in half.

Normally, I would just call and request a duplicate, but the job it's from requires me to mail them a request for a duplicate with a check and a self addressed, stamped envelope then they will mail one back to me. Normally, no big deal. However, we are in crunch time for taxes being due.

So, should I a) tape together my old w2 and mail it in and just request the duplicate in case Oklahoma has a problem or b) call Oklahoma and be like "my taxes may or may not be late this year, I am waiting for my duplicate w2" or c) there is another option that I'm missing because it is 6 am and I am yet to sleep

I mean. I have the whole thing. It's just...sort of ripped in half.

Yay for the answer I wanted to hear!

I have scotch tape too, which is transparent and therefore invisible and therefore it's pretty much like my w2 is in one piece anyway

You could tape it.. or if you really are unsure about submitting it that way, you can always file for an extension- it'll give you until October to file.

But you still have to pay anything that you may owe on time.
