It was really easy for me. I just brought in both of our W-2s and the lady did everything else.

It'd be a completely different story if he was deployed.
Hes sick. Thats why I asked ahead of time instead of just showing up. If he absolutely needs to be there, then he would go.

What about if your SO is deployed? I was told that DH can defer taxes once he comes back from deployment...can I do the same or do I still have to file mine by the deadline? We are filing jointly.

Pretty sure you can wait. Contact the IRS if you want to be sure.

I also will never use those tax centers on base. They have little training and follow a book. Every time I have used them (2 times I learned my lesson after the second time and talking to the "trainer") I have had to refile because they were messed up big time.

Why not just file online for free? I filed while dh was at work.

That's what I'm doing.

DH is deployed but I was IMing him while I did the taxes, discussing it with him, and then we filed jointly and he has his digital signature on TurboTax. Our accountant said it's fine to do it that way. We always e-file though.

Us too. I did the e-sign back when we first filed and DH just adds it. I always know when he's doing them and we talk about it because I have to give him all my student loan info etc.

Avoid the tax center.

I also say do them online. Its not hard and all the programs that are used are step by step. You can even go to irs.gov and efile online if you want.
