Depends on how many dependents you claim, on how much more you'll see in the paycheck. With 0 dependents, I usually get 10% of my paycheck taken out in taxes. You should be able to see how much he makes before taxes on his LES.

They are "tax free" as a perk for going into a "hazerdous zone" He will most likely also get hazerdous duty pay while there. When my husband is gone we normally get about $500 more a month in tax free, sep pay, and hazerdous duty pay.

It depends on where they are going. My DH did westpac twice. The first time we never got any tax free, we just got family sep, flight deck pay, and sea pay. The second time we did get tax free pay, but thats because they spent almost the whole deployment in the gulf.

well the tax free would depend on what your paygrade is. we always see a considerable bump in our pay when DH deployed to that area because of the tax free and well the Hazardous duty and oh gosh the other pay they get. I forget IDF? Is that it?
Anyway it really depends on how much he gets taken out for taxes now. DH has deployed to the middle east for the past 8 years basically minus one to japan and we've enjoyed those extra pay perks.
