His credit score is up!

It's gone up almost 100 points since we started tackling his awful credit last September. I've written requests disputing some of the bad credit as his ex-spouses since she would open lines of credit while he was deployed, max it out, and hand him the bad credit notices that weren't even being mailed to him directly after they separated. All of those requests were approved (2 or 3 in total) and the debt was removed from his report.

In other news... mine continues to drop. Thank you American Express. I love that you must decrease my credit limit every time I make a payment that puts me under the nearest 100th. The dropped one of my limits by over $10,000 just like that. I had a notice in my mail... that sucked.

for him! AmEx did the same to me. $18,000 limit down to $500. As soon as it was paid off I closed and they asked me why.

mrs.ski... one of my limits dropped from $25,000 to $500. I can't close because they said I hold a balance on another card so I can't until I pay it off. Makes me mad. So every time my balance goes down, they drop my limit. It's literally screwing up my credit because this is a MONTHLY occurance. A monthly inquiry on your credit is bad news.

I need to start writing these letters!! It looks like the apartment complex we lived in 7 years ago was bought by someone else, and they just put a collection account on our credit report for something that was paid a month after we moved out!! Good thing I save EVERYTHING (including the receipt for payment lol)

But girls, please do NOT close any accounts. It hurts your credit even further. Be mad at the company, don't use the card, whatever - but do NOT close the account.

Use your credit card for purchases you normally make with cash or your debit card, and then pay them off immediately. Online banking is great for this. Pay your card two or three times per month if you want to, so that you are constantly using the card, but never paying interest fees.
