USAA Auto and Renters Insurance Folks! - Financial Management

Did anyone else experience a recent increase in their renewal policy premium?!?

Looks like our renter's insurance increased like 24% and out auto insurance increased 32%.

The USAA rep told up that EVERYONE experienced raises in insurance.

Looks like I'll be calling around for policy quotes and see how the pricing compares. USAA used to be the cheapest for us. We shall see....

BLAH....there goes our budget that we JUST revamped a few days ago.

I paid our bill 2 weeks ago (it's always paid from the 15th's check) and it was the same as usual.. and from the looks of our next statement, it went down. I've been paying right around $95 a month, and according to the bill due on the 17th, it's $88.

We don't have USAA because it was A LOT more expensive in WA then it was in FL.(We PCSed here 6 months ago) We ended up switching to GEICO.

I'd definately call.. it shocked me to see it go down.. it went from $93 to $94 over the course of last year..so to see $88 made me do a double take. We had Farm Bureau Ins. when we were in TX, because the rates were great plus we got discounts on tires and such.

BTW, thanks for reminding me to check, I needed to print off new cards...

our was just paid and it wasn't nothing like you describe. it did go up because we added another car.

I should have specified renewal policies, since ours will be renewed this month. Sorry for the confusion!

It could have just gone up in your area if there was an increase in claims. That is how they determine rates, by what kind and how many claims they have in your area. When we moved to houston it went up majorly, and when I called the rep said that people living across the street can see a huge difference in rates, it all depends on where the 'line' is so to speak. kwim.

Not sure if the "increase across the board" is due to the economy...like if people can't afford the car loan, they total the car ON PURPOSE or other fraudulent scenarios....
