Credit Question - Financial Management

So I looked up my credit report because, well, I hadnt in a long time and there was something on there that I wanted to question.

I called the number and they said it was medical imaging bill from 2002!! Its not that expensive, we could pay it, but my question is why am I responsible for a bill when I was 13 years old? Does this sound right?

I questioned them and they said that because it wasnt taken care of before my 18th birthday , I am now responsible. How long does it stay on my credit report?

Sorry i am credit stupid, Im trying to learn!!

It sounds awful but plausible. Maybe call them back and ask them the credit questions?

how were you charged for something when you were 13? that's really odd.

It's very possible. I had a bill from a visit to the eye doctor that insurance didn't cover. I was 16 at the time. Guess my mom thought it was paid and didn't. The day after my 18th birthday, I got a bill to my name for that amount. It was on my credit and everything.

i have tons of medical bills from when i was younger but none are which on my credit just my parents credit. something that happened when you were younger shouldn't be on your credit.

I remember clark howards saying after 7 years...it should be whiped clean. You better look into that.
