Dave Ramsey Total Money Makeover - Financial Management

I am thinking of re-vamping my spending and saving habits. I have been reading his site. Has anyone else used it and found success?

YES! YES! YES! I absolutely love the Dave Ramsey system!

EDIT: I guess I should say more than yes, huh? We are currently on step 6, although we don't have kids so we got to completely skip step 5. I also don't completely follow everything to a T. For example, we don't use the envelope system, but I do have a strict budget that I keep close track of. But I definitely agree with his program. I'm 23 and have absolutely no debt except our mortgage. We are about to buy a new car and we are paying completely in cash!

I recommended the site to my 18 year old. I want him to learn early.

But anyway... have you tried e-Mealz???

I am thinking about that. I was looking at the samply plans. They looked okay. But I thought I'd do it for 3 months until I could start getting my own "normal" foods plan ready.

I am excited. I want to revamp everything.

Did you buy the book or just use the website?

I bought Financial Peace University, not Total Money Makeover. I looked at Total Money Makeover but I pretty much already understood the concepts in it, Financial Peace goes a bit more in depth.

I don't use e-mealz, I've actually never heard of it before, so thank you for the tip! I like to visit the Money Saving Mom blog, the girl who writes it is a Dave Ramsey follower, too.

We are going to start his program too. We have no debt other than our cars and our house payment so it'll go fast for us. We are at a point where we have money just burning a hole in our pocket and we need to get smart about it and figure out what to do.

I am trying to start the Dave Ramsey system, I think his plan for getting out of debt and saving is great.
I am working on the baby steps, we have the emergency fund and now am working on paying off our debt.

I like to shop and spend so I am still a work in progress when it comes to my budget.

I am trying to get DH on board with it. We're supposed to be "talking bills" this weekend, my mom ordered me the DVD's and sent them out because I was talking to her about how stressful finances got after we lost my income due to the PCS overseas. I watched his DVDs and I was completely empowered by them, I just have to get DH on board.

we did it and have been successful. I paid off over $8K while he was gone on his 6 month deployment
