Credit Card Question
I have a credit card question and who better to ask then the ladies on SOS
![]() When you go over your credit line but you make all of your payments on time and you usually pay more then the minimum thats due does this show up bad on your credit score? I honestly never knew you could go over a credit limit

no it doesn't but you should make a payment to bring you below the limit because most if not all cards will charge you at least 35 bucks overlimit fee every month it's over the limit. which can then turn into a past due thing which will show on your credit report. kwim

And if you are over your limit alot of credit cards will jack up your interest rate........then you'll just be swimming in debt because of the huge interest rate and the over the limit fee that most cards also attach to them.
Good luck!

yep you can definitely go over your credit limit. Some cards might deny a transaction if you go over but alot of them do not deny it and force it thru but unless you make extra payments to cover the amount you are over they will charge you an over the limit fee. We actually had one this month. it wasnt alot but they still charged us a fee.

well personally I dont see how it would show up on your credit score or report if you went over your limit in the same billing cycle and made an extra payment to cover the overage. But if you didnt make that extra payment to cover what you went over then it could possibly show up on your credit report.

It depends on your card. Some of our cards don't care if we go over the limit, as long as we don't miss a payment. And some of our other cards will raise our interest rate if we go over, regardless of always paying on time, etc. I would call the company and ask. Even if they are going to raise it, if it's your first time, they might consider waiving it. It's worth a shot!
