Freezing credit cards.. - Financial Management

Has anyone ever did this?

I prefer freezing over cutting it up...just in case.

Ive never done it but i feel it may be nessasary in the future for DH~!!

I have. it is much easier than cutting them up, and you have to go thru so much to use them.

Im going to do that here soon with ours. I want to freeze them so we do have them for REAL emergencies....not just when I was a pair of pants emergency!

Just don't defrost in the microwave when an emergency hits!

I do it and it works. Not having it in my wallet makes me think twice and eliminates impulse buys.

If I decide I need to use it I let it thaw in the sink... usually I end up feeling guilty before it defrosts and realize whatever I thought I needed that I couldn't pay for with cash is unnecessary so back in the freezer it goes.

It's a great exercise in self control

This was very helpful in lowering our debt, but without completely ripping away our safety net.
