Different Lestat. Tom cruise played Lestat in Interview and Stuart Townsend in thus one. Takes place after Interview (in todays day and age) but flashes back to Lestats creation etc. I didn't like this one as much as Interview but it is still good and I LOVE the soundtrack

Same Character, just different actor that plays Lestat. I've read all the books . . . love Anne Rice. Queen of the damned like Kristi said is supposed to happen during the present time. Personally, I liked Queen of the Damned better than Interview with a Vampire, just because it follows the book more than Interview with a Vampire did. (I was actually pissed off after I saw Interview the first time. LOL!)
This is the order the books go: Vampire Chronicles: 1. Interview with the Vampire (1976) 2. The Vampire Lestat (1985) 3. The Queen of the Damned (1988) 4. The Tale of the Body Thief (1992) 5. Memnoch the Devil (1995) 6. The Vampire Armand (1998) 7. Merrick (2000) 8. Blood and Gold (2001) 9. Blackwood Farm (2002) 10. Blood Canticle (2003) All the books kind of overlap with eachother and all the characters within all the books are related and know eachother in some way. I've heard that she's done writing any more books to go with the Vampire Chronicles. Anyways, HTH.

I was disappointed in Queen of the Damned. It is a story told after the interview, but is the story of how vampires came into being. they didn't show this at all. it was over -artsy without enough story.
anne rice wanted to finish writing fiction in general since her husband died. she also just got back into religion and wrote her new book about Jesus or something (she was an atheist for years).
