    Netflix documentary 'Very Young Girls'

    Advertisements
Watched this on instant queue tonight. Wow. I'll admit, I cried.

A documentary about the human trafficking and sexual exploitation of young girls.

The average age of girls in the United States becoming victims of sexual exploitation is 12-14 years old.

Here's the trailer: YouTube - VERY YOUNG GIRLS Trailer

    Anybody else seen?

"The purpose of life is not to simply be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well."
    - Ralph Waldo Emerson

I watched this a while back (sometime during deployment). It was absolutely heartbreaking. So many things went through my head... what kind of person could do this to a young girl... what kind of person would do that WITH a young girl.... how these poor girls will NEVER get their childhoods back and will be so damaged for the rest of their lives.

    So sad

    I've seen it.

I'm the head grant writer for The Wayne Foundation. It's an organization that stives to set up safe houses to help children that are being sex trafficked.

Yeah, I was a mess of emotional reactions. But to have that ending? Oh my gosh, wonderful. To see that girl become an advocate for those girls and get married...

That is amazing. This documentary totally opened my eyes, and I'm gonna' check out that foundation too.

If you are interested in this subject, consider reading Half the Sky. Great book about sexual exploitation and women's health issues.
