"Right for women to vote"
Has anyone ever actually read the Amendment?
Amendment 19 - Ratified in 1920 on August 18.

So did I!
I'm learning all the Amendments for my government class and it's truly surprising to put some of these things into context. Can you imagine if it didn't get ratified - and we still weren't allowed to vote? Not being considered a complete person/citizen is horrifying to me - and kind of puts the views of other issues into perspective for those that they directly affect. can you imagine how extra ****ty it was for minorities - all minorities were given the right to vote in 1870 except for women. I mean, talk about a smack in the face. It's a bit of a disgrace, honestly. But! We're past it - finally - all the sacrifices and fights made to gain all these various rights of equality are, mostly, in the past ... but we still have a long way to go before they're no longer needed. I suppose their fears never came true - no one has ever suggested that the country has taken a dive because women have been voting. Just the opposite - they say that women tend to make more wise decisions when it come to some political facets.
