Obama's Health Care Plan
So this has been a heated topic in the news for awhile, and I never really formed an opinion on what I thought about Obama's health care plan, mostly because I didn't know the details of it. I have looked online for some description of specifically what he wants to do, and cannot find a clear cut answer. Sooo, I'm turning here to look for someone who could maybe explain to me what he is trying to do, and the status of its progress in congress. Thanks!

There are some details on this website. I'm not for his health care plan, but I did a lot of research before coming to the decision. I don't really have time to break it down for you because I have an exam tomorrow, but if you have any questions let me know and I will try to give you a clear cut answer about what his health care plan is trying to do. I would also be kind of skeptical of things that you read on websites, even the one that I just gave you because they tend to be biased and only inform people of what they want to hear. Basically they sugarcoat it. |

Ya, thats kind of the problem I have. Every website is biased one way or another. But still none of them give details on what he wants to do and how. Thanks for your help tho

There really is no Obama plan right now. There are several different bills and he has some goals but there is no concrete plan. So it is hard to make definite statements about what is or is not "in" the bill because they are currently amending it and stuff.

Yeah, and they are voting on things in the bill that arent even written yet. Its basically going to be the end of insurance companies in 5-10 years (the government can run the program as revenue neutral system or even a deficit where as the insurance companies cant) because the wont be able to compete. This whole notion that people will have an option is more or less a lie. In addition, smaller hospitals, urgent cares, family practices are at risk of going under as well. Also, medical device companies are going to be heavily taxed to help pay for it. Most people think that its not that big of a deal, but regualr stuff like, band aids, tampons, condoms, etc fall under that category in the bill. So if this bill will pass it will be at the expense of tens of thousands of jobs higher taxes for everyone and worse off where we were in the first place.
To add to this the Cap and Trade will ultimately turn this country upside down and put us more at a disadavantage to be competitive in the world. The problem with most of the democrats is that they think of now instead of the impacts their decisions will ultimately have on future generations. I havent seen Cap and Trade.. ERRRR tax.. discussed much on here as I think most people dont care or dont know much about it. I would encourage everyone to do an ounce of research on it. Right now 2010 cannot come soon enough, regardless of party all I am hoping for is some decently responsible people to be elected so stuff like Cap and Trade wont get passed... and if enough time, that the current health care bill will get read before it gets passed.

Cru22- Every country with a government option also has private options. They have not gone out of business there, why do you think it will be different here?
It is called competition, as of now, there is none. I have no competition for my health insurance, I have 2 choices, what my employer offers or nothing. Why can't I have a choice?

Every bit of summary and actual copies of bills still aren't going ot be 100% spot on with what they're debating right now in Congress.
We, currently, have an idea but don't know the details behind the bill - those things have yet to be made public, again. This article, here, has a lot of links - summaries, full text, currently (as close as possible) and various other factoids and related tidbits. http://edlabor.house.gov/blog/2009/0...ices-act.shtml
