Sounding off
Since my life is like a pepper shaker I don't grace the net at all like I use to.
But I'm taking a break from some studying atm. So, like a fountain, here I go. I'm anti any big-bill being passed that will cost a lot, seriously modify anything and so on and so forth if it hasn't been mulled over and analyzed ... every idea, thought and direction should be considered, reconsidered. Per healthcare, for example, every single system that's in funciton in the WORLD should be examined and considered and the pros and cons weighed out. THAT is the mindset that formed out current system. Now, yes, our system has it's quirks and flaws and issues. But a lot of those issues are related ot the people's interpretations and decisions, not the actually format of the system itself. So, this means I'm anti the healthcare bill, any new bailout bills and almost anything that they might be considering, now. Doesn't matter what it is, what it's suppose ot do, etc etc etc. Pelosi and everyone touts that they "need ot get it through NOW" "we put it through within WEEKS" as if it's a badge of honor that no one is actually doing their job. Shame shame (and that 2nd reference is actually going back to when Bush was in office and they passed the first bailout-embarassment. ... So I'm not pleased with Obama's work just as much as I wasn't pleased with Bush. I'm no longer partisan like I use to be. I'm not republican, anymore...and i'm not a Democrat, either.) I believe that they aren't taking the proper time - for anything - to really examine and learn what the problems are. I feel they are just looking at a HUGE problem, flicking the spinner on a Twister board, and then saying "right hand on ..... medicare!" There doesn't seem to be a single, solid, straightforward BRAIN functioning on the Hill ... Everyone is just a big idiot. So are a lot of governors and mayors and so on and so forth. I'm not just refering to the big wigs. Where did all the intelligent, thoughtful, concerned leaders go? Far away from here, that's for sure. There might be a few left, but it's not enough to be noticable. There hasn't been one single thought or idea that anyone's pressed on with that I've agreed with, actually ... so no one should be bummed as if I've left their favorite out. ![]() When James Madison sat down to write our country's Constitution he took a lot of time to read, analyze and understand the history of government and politics - carefully weighing out the pros and cons and, in the end of it all, he worked up a NEW government that didn't exist anywhere else in the world and still is unique and unmatched in many ways. About his efforts to learn about other forms of government he said : "history consists of beacons of light which give warning of the course to be shunned, without pointing out the way which ought to be pursued." And i think that is the situation that we're in with many issues and it's shameful that the creativity and "give a damn" that started our current government isn't here to continue to fix problems and carry things along that same path. It's pathetic how things have gone, honestly. Truely pathetic.

I disagree that the proper time isn't being taken. The people working on this bill have worked for this bill for decades. Kennedy has worked on it his entire career, Dingle has working on it his as well. Clinton worked on it in the 90s, there are several people working on it who have the knowledge to make the change.
What I don't appreciate is the lies and scare tactics.

@ Whitney ... gues who's back ... back again... ![]() i can never stay long but now that the kids are in school i have a smidge more time during the day.
Now, yes, for a looong time now they've been pushing for healthcare reform and there are been a lot of well thought out plans - but, perhaps it's just me - but I don't see solid results coming from any of them. Not a single one strikes me as "having the guts to work right."

Funny - neither side seems to do exactly that when they're in power. The Reps didn't seem to do that much so we were stagnant for a long time. The Dems definitely aren't doing that at all...etc etc. That's part of what gets to me about how they're running things - when the Articles of the Confederation was replaced with the Constitution the decision to do so was UNANIMOUS (everyone was in favor) and EVERYONE talk about it, mulled it over and agreed on every single bit of it. Impossible to do that, now, because no one seems concerned with staying focused on WHAT matters ... instead they're just determined ot do something that they feel is right, **** the other guys. They're all guilty of it. Now, if they all would put away their childish dribble and actually, jointly, make the effort then perhaps more people would generally appreciate and support their overall efforts. Instead it's become a war of emotions and opinions - everyone fighting for who gets the say.

But, they are giving in, the Dems that is. They are giving in to NO public option, but still giving the Reps tort reform. In my opinion, it is either both of them or neither. Why should we give up the one thing we want AND give them the one thing they want. No equal at all.

So, besides the 40+ plus years and the thousands of bills drafted, you think we should wait LONGER and let more people without healthcare suffer and die? All for what? So that you feel like people have been "thoughtful" enough?
![]() It needs to ****ing happen and it needs to happen NOW. ENOUGH dilly-dallying around. We don't have time for this anymore. Enough discussing, arguing about it. Just DO something, and let these people have some relief. |

My point is that the only people who have full knowledge of what's being put through are the people who've written it. But it's not just the healthcare deal ... it's, also, the bailout bill that was passed at the tailend of Bush's admin, etc etc ... massive, huge bills that are so complex the people who vote for and vote against it can't possibly KNOW what the heck they're voting for or against. I want all 535 members of Congress to understand what they vote on - regardless of WHAT it is. Regardless of HOW they're voting. All 435 Members of the house and all 100 Senators in the Senate. I'm not against the healthcare reform - it just ticks me off that people are against it and some openly admit they haven't read it and don't comprehend what's being considered ... and that people who are voting for it, also, don't all know and understand what they're voting on. All members of Congress do NOT know what the hell they're doing, anymore!
