Letter to President Obama re: Health Care

Hilary got me on the ball today and encouraged me to write a letter to Obama about health care. Apparently he is dropping the public option. So, I wrote him a letter encouraging him not to, and telling him how I feel about it.

I would like to encourage everyone else to do the same. Our government is what we make it. We need to speak out, as citizens, and tell our elected officials exactly what we are thinking.

Here is my letter.

Dear President Obama, I am writing to encourage you not to drop the public option in your health plan. There are millions of Americans who can not afford the high premiums and deductibles of insurance companies but who do not make little enough to qualify for public assistance. My husband and I are two of those people. He served honorably in the United States Army for 5 years before being medically discharged, and we have been hit hard by this financial crisis. He lost his job 9 months ago and has been looking for work ever since. Even when he was working in the public sector after leaving the military, we never could afford the cost of insurance and have been uninsured for the last five years. I personally believe that health care should be a basic human right in a country as prosperous as the United States. It should be available to anyone who needs it, like the police and fire department are. It breaks my heart to see people struggling either with undiagnosed and untreated illness, or struggling financially because of medical issues that they can not to afford to treat and insurance companies refuse to cover. It is downright criminal to me that insurance companies are allowed to profit off of the misery of the citizens of this country when they are at their most vulnerable. Millions of Americans including my husband and I voted you into office to get health care reform going. We want a public health care option. Please do not let the loud opposition who will never be pleased no matter what you do change your stance on this. Continue to push for a public health care option so that you do not disenfranchise the voters who put you into office. Like the old adage says, you can't please all the people all of the time. I am all for reaching across the aisle, but not at the expense of those who need the help. Keep the greater good, and serving the people who put you into office, at the forefront of your mind. It is not the insurance companies that need help right now, it is the every day citizen who is struggling with unforeseen illness and doesn't know if they can afford their medication or if their insurance company will cover their treatment that need your help. I really like your letter. Did you know that the United States and South Africa, are the only two countries in the WORLD that do not supply health care for their citizens....it's bull****. We live in such a money hungry society, that we must charge for something that should be a basic right.

HA HA HA! Here is my incredibly immature and douchey letter to Obama.

The President should use an Executive Order to remove congressional Health Benefits. The Republicans keep telling us how excellent private health insurance is, I think they should get in on this sweet deal. Then, give them freedom and leeway to pass whatever Health Reform they think is adequate for themselves. Whatever they pass for us lesser American's can be their plan, too. That is what we need: to free our Congressmen from the TYRANNY of government health services! Let them come up with an option that can work for all Americans. Separate but equal? I think not. Either put my family on the Congressional Plan or put the Congress on my plan!!! My Health Plan is called Miller Light and Excedrine PM. Unfortunately, it is not helping the tumor this fake-tarded Health Reform debate has caused me to develop. If the President sells out the public option I think he should include in his speech a reason that I shouldn't sleep in on reelection day in 2012. I don't really need to vote if I get to stay on my Excedrine PM Health Plan anyway, right? No matter who is in office, they are never going to stop making Exedrine PM! When Obama sells out my family for insurance blood money and fake bi-partisanship I need him to give me another reason to vote for him. Otherwise I will probably stay home and nurse my hemorrhaging brain with Excedrine PM. Also, its pretty obvious that I should basically stay in bed for the next 12 years until another opportunity for Healthcare comes my way. It's probably safer in my bed for my fragile body. Wouldn't want to live a fulfilling life or anything. I might get hurt. And I don't know if you realize this, Mr. President, but there are some things that Excedrine PM just WILL NOT CURE. Like the deep seeded hatred I feel for insurance companies and republicans. And my contempt for you if you sell out on the only part of your agenda that is worth a damn.
