Health Care Reform....
Has anyone else noticed all the turmoil about the Health care reform in the last week? It's almost insane!
Headlines from www.drudgereport.com Protests spread over Obama health reform plans... White House to Dems: 'Punch back twice as hard'... SUMMER SHOWDOWN... VIDEO: UNION THUGS UNLEASHED... PHOTOS... 6 arrested after St. Louis meeting... VIDEO... Physicians jam meeting in Houston: 'Don't want socialized medicine'... Tempers flare in Michigan... Citing safety concerns, officials cancel Sen. McCaskill event... PEOPLE SHOUTING AT PELOSI IN DENVER... Palin calls Dems healthcare plan 'evil,' cites threat to son... The article most interesting to me is the one in St Louis. http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/new...C?OpenDocument In a prepared statement released Friday morning, Carnahan said: "Sadly we've seen stories about disrupters around the country, and we have a handful of them here in Missouri. Instead of participating in a civil debate, they have mobilized with special interests in Washington who have lined their pockets by overcharging Americans for a broken health care system." "I will continue to engage with constituents that I am honored to represent in Congress and fight to achieve long-overdue health insurance reform in our country," Carnahan said. I was listening to the radio yesterday, and people were calling in who were actually there. It seems that 2 black men who were "for" the healthcare reform and union members beat up a conservative black man who was there against it. Seems to me like Carnahan's statement is a bit backward to say the least. Kenneth Gladney, 38, a conservative activist from St. Louis, said he was attacked by some of those arrested as he handed out yellow flags with "Don't tread on me" printed on them. He spoke to the Post-Dispatch from the emergency room at St. John's Mercy Medical Center, where he said he was awaiting treatment for injuries to his knee, back, elbow, shoulder and face. Gladney, who is black, said one of his attackers, also a black man, used a racial slur against him before the attack. "It just seems there's no freedom of speech without being attacked," he said. Members of the local Tea Party Coalition, a movement that has emerged to counter Obama's policies, had urged their members to attend Carnahan's forum, which in turn spurred Democrats to establish a strong presence. Inside the gathering, while speakers stuck to aging issues, they were often interrupted by yells from audience members who wanted to shift the focus to health care. "This isn't even close to civil," said Steve Belosi, 52, of Lake Saint Louis, commenting on the crowd. "The rudeness was beyond compare." __________________

That's all very sad. Too bad people feel the need to beat someone else up because their beliefs don't match their own.

They're probably more pro-Obamathan pro-helath care reform and beat up the guy because they feel he's a 'sellout.'
There are plenty of educated blacks that know the issues but these guys don't seem to fit in that category.

To be honest, I can understand why people feel so strongly about this issue. I read the gist of the new health care reform memorandum and to be honest, Im scared. This is going to cost military families, who PAY for Tricare and Concordia money. I dont have the money to spare..... so people being outraged to me, I understand. I find most people that are in support of the this, are people who just want to support Obama, and aren't really looking at the bigger picture. They are willing to fight for an idea, and those who oppose are fighting for their lively hood.
I think its sad really.

I'm also curious why this wasn't on MSNBC this morning. They talked about right wing activists busing people in to the meetings and they took Sarah Palin out of context, saying that she said the government will kill her kids with this new health care plan. But they didn't talk about anyone getting beaten up. |
