Middle Class Tax Hike...
Over the weekend two of Obama's people said that they are not ruling it out to make up for the deficit.
This was probably one of the biggest reasons people voted for him, he promised not to raise taxes...He has said that he will not do so again... Do you think if he does this it will hurt his chances for re election?

OK, AP said something to me about this last night, and I searched the news sites and can't for the life of me find a source. Do you have one you could share?
Edit: OK, I found an article that explained it --
Well, so far, there is no actual plan to do so. Until Obama says the word, I don't think it will happen. And yes, I think it will hurt his chances for reelection; look at Bush 41. |

LOL. Because they make huge contributions to all the Senators and Representatives on the Hill and have a ****ton of lobbyists. To make matters worse, lower class people have adopted the ideology that we should not raise taxes on the rich (Joe the Plumber comes to mind). Everybody seems to ignore the fact that if we aren't taxing the upper class then we have to get the money from somewhere. And that is why the upper class pay less than their fair share.
I think he won't rule it out because he knows it will be incredibly difficult to get congress to vote on tax hikes for the rich because of all of their influence. But we have been cutting taxes for 30 years. We need an income to run the government, it is a political reality. Since the middle class and poor have less political power it is always easier to abuse them.

![]() I seriously think raising taxes by a small amount would help so many programs. In CA especially with their recent budget. Raising taxes would help our schools and other programs yet people cry about having to pay a couple hundred extra dollars a year. If you want better services you have to pay for them. |
