Michelle Obama Visit in Bowling Green

So I went to the ribbon cutting ceremony of the new Caroline County health clinic yesterday where Michelle Obama was supposed to be speaking and cutting the ribbon. There were TONS of people there and everyone was so excited to see her there since Caroline County isn't the most prosperous county in VA.

I went there and got a pretty big shock: people holding up "Abortion is not healthcare" signs. While I know that it is freedom of speech, this event was not about abortion, this clinic does not perform abortions so WHY come to Bowling Green on a day thats supposed to be ABOUT helping the poor and uninsured get help and display those signs?! I absolutely do not get it. Everyone ignored them which was a good thing because they had megaphones out and what not, but why find the need to "rain on our parade?!" These uninsured have been waiting for years to get this clinic open!

So my opinion: Theres a time and a place for everything and this definitely was not the place.

When you say 'supposed to be there', does that mean she didn't end up attending?

I do think that was in poor taste of the protestors - learn what a clinic is for before you protest it!!

well, the paper advertised it as a public event but they had everything blocked off so you really couldn't see too much of her. It turns out that the event was a private event, unfortunately!

We did see the motorcade and her get out of the car which was pretty cool.

I'm all for freedom of speech but its not like this clinic actually performed abortions, it helps the people that cannot afford doctors visits!

Yes, and I hope all those protesters realize that private insurance companies cover abortions. So anyone who has health insurance is supplementing abortion. They can all kindly get off their private health insurance and quit being hypocrites now.
