Why is the focus on Bristol?
Why no focus on Biden's son who's being indicted on federal charges of theft basically.
Or McCain's daughter who's adopted from Bangladesh? Why is no one discussing the grades and overal developement of the Obama's chidren? Or the status and lifetimes of any of their other kids and grandkids and so forth? Why just Governor Palin and their family?

But does a teenager's actions completely reflect her mother's hardcore beliefs?
My parents are Christian - my father's a minister - but I definately don't reflect their views and lifestyle, at all. In fact, I guess I go out of my way to distance myself from all of that. But it is, really, all of us and the media - not the campaigns, really.

Who here is focusing on her?
I see everyone saying that she SHOULDN'T be brought into it. So, I am not sure why you would ask us. Apparently, we don't know cuz we think it's stupid.

![]() True point, Wicked - but they're talking about it on the media ![]() It's sensational, at the least, maybe thats all it is - gossip talk. *edit* A lot of states have a variety of different methods to comabat teen pregnancy - and a lot of it just doesn't seem to work. Perhaps the real reason for the endless chat on tv abot it is because we're left in the open - a lot of speculation because no answers have been given to appease curiosity.

We are all in one way or another the result of our upbringing.
If the presidential Vice President is going to try to legislate that I raise my child in accordance with her beliefs, then it is our right to have the results of her beliefs examined. Shoudl the daughter be criticized for her beliefs or actions? absolutly not. The criticism belongs with the parents.

I do think that guynavywife makes a good point though. I do think that since the Republican Party is the self proclaimed party of "family values", when something in their own family fits right into the mold of the supposed horror stories they are trying to prevent by passing legislation telling people how to live their lives, it comes off as hypocritical. Maybe that is where the interest comes from? A feeling of resentment from people who feel like the same people who are telling them how they should be living aren't even living up to their own expectations. I don't personally think that just because you have a pregnant teen your beliefs on abstinence are automatically invalid, but I do think that it brings the effectiveness of the methods you are proclaiming all people should use into question.
