Spinoff of who would you vote for? -- Why you don't support the other guy
This is a thread that will probably get quite heated, as there are a lot of misconceptions about both of the candidates floating around...
The question here is, if your reason for choosing a candidate is so that the other guy doesn't get in office, then what is so bad about the other guy? Be prepared to defend your answer, because it is certainly guaranteed that people will disagree with you.

I'm voting for Obama. That being said, I'm not voting for Obama just so McCain doesn't get into office. That seems kind of middle schoolish to me.
As for why I'm not voting for McCain, it's very simple: I feel we need to get our troops out of the Middle East. If he wanted to start pulling the troops out,I'd probably be in a tossup with who to vote for. I have immense respect for both men. But the Iraq War was the deciding factor for me. |

I would never vote for a Republican, no matter how crappy the other candidate is. Why? Because the Republican Party platform is anti-choice. Quite honestly, any ******* that wants to tell me what I can and cannot do with my reproductive system can kiss my fat white girl ass. (And that is MY OPINION!)

Oh, I want to add real quick: This isn't a debate about the issues themselves. It's about what issues each candidate stands behind.
So, as an highly polarizing, extreme example, if your candidate has a stance on the death penalty, the debate isn't about whether the death penalty is good or bad, it's about whether your candidate actually supports that opinion.

I wish not to have another four years of Bushnomics in the white house. Somebody lied, troops died, gas, healthcare, education, foreclosures, better benefits for troops and veteran's. etc etc etc etc. Someone that can motivate you with his words & actions..Not have another President talk and you go "WTF" did he just say or try to explain.

I don't support McCain because of key parts of the voting record that undermine freedom and basic human rights.
Voted NO on preserving habeas corpus for Guantanamo detainees. (Sep 2006) Voted NO on requiring CIA reports on detainees & interrogation methods. (Sep 2006) Voted YES on reauthorizing the PATRIOT Act. (Mar 2006) Voted YES on extending the PATRIOT Act's wiretap provision. (Dec 2005)

I'm pro choice, pro gay marriage, anti war, pro stem cell research, pro universal healthcare, and I would like to have a President who has even a basic understanding of how our economy works.
Thus, there's not a chance in hell that I would vote for McSame.

I, too, am all of these things. I refuse to vote for McCain because he's so far up Bush's tailpipe that it's a wonder he's not darker, though the lack of sunlight in said rectal cavity could cause the paleness, too. McCain, in my opinion, is distancing himself from Bush now because he knows if he's seen to be too much in agreement with him and his policies NOW then he does not have a good chance of winning this election. Plus, any man who needs his aides to look up what his position is on whether or not he believes condoms prevent the spread of AIDS does NOT need to be our President. I do, however, have issues with Obama that I may not be able to reconcile...mostly due to his wife who I do NOT trust in the same way I never trusted Bush. I'm sorry but I'm not sure I can support a man whose wife says she'll put blacks first no matter the circumstances. Being in a position of that kind of power you need to think about EVERYONE and not just your race. Plus, I heard Obama admitted he's weak on the economy and that's one of the main issues we need fixed right now! So I guess that leaves me pretty stuck on who to vote for.
