Barack candidate for current diplomacy concerns?

I read this following quote in an unrelated article, and I thought that it was very troubling. I followed up on it, and as far as I can tell this is very accurate as far as Muslim Sharia law is concerned.

As the son of the Muslim father, Senator Obama was born a Muslim under Muslim law as it is universally understood. It makes no difference that, as Senator Obama has written, his father said he renounced his religion. Likewise, under Muslim law based on the Koran his mother's Christian background is irrelevant. Of course, as most Americans understand it, Senator Obama is not a Muslim. He chose to become a Christian, and indeed has written convincingly to explain how he arrived at his choice and how important his Christian faith is to him. His conversion, however, was a crime in Muslim eyes; it is "irtidad" or "ridda," usually translated from the Arabic as "apostasy," but with connotations of rebellion and treason. Indeed, it is the worst of all crimes that a Muslim can commit, worse than murder (which the victim's family may choose to forgive).

If this is the case how on earth is Senator Obama in any position to lead this nation in diplomacy with the current affairs in key areas of the Middle East? OMGosh how on earth can he even approach them in light of this?

That may be what THEY think iof him, but on matters of faith, isn't it up to the individual? THEY can say whatever they want about him, but isn't it really about what HE believes (or doesn't believe)?

He is not Muslim he is Christian. This argument is similar to the how could Hillary lead us in the middle east because she is a woman strawman stance.

Well I know that.... and the part of the article I quoted obviously knew that.

True, there will be Muslim leaders who may not want to deal with him because of this crime he committed towards the religion, that is such a small thing when you think about how he won't actually be in charge of all the negotiations with said leaders. He is merely the figurehead... he doesn't actually do ALL the work with other nations... he is just PART of it.

My point was he was never raised as a Muslim his father was and his father left the religion and if I recall his father was not in his life very much. Considering the sad state of affairs in diplomacy between most areas of the gulf and the US now I honestly don't think this will make things any worse then what they are.

If he becomes President they would deal with him just as they deal with President Bush.

Well like I stated, "I read up on it, and as far as I can tell" Maybe instead of your holier than thou "you are not even worthy of a response attitude" you could actually teach me about what I need to "learn" about Islam.

Well what HE believes has absolutely no bearing on what they think of him, and the willingness on their part to respect him or what he has to say.

But do you honestly think our current President holds very much respect in most countries over there?
