Obama on Small Town Voters
How do you think this will affect him? Is it a blow to his campaign or will people blow this one off as well?

Holy
Crap. I never thought I'd be so offended by what comes out of his mouth. True - I don't like Obama. but it's not WHO said it - it's what he implied. I USE TO live in the city and all I have to say is that everyone who's city bound can KEEP their CRIME and DRUGS. I'm out here - in the country, now - NO burglaries, drugs, and nightly shootings. (These three things were HUGE problems where we lived.) And - no - we didn't live in the 'black community' ... it's not a race-thing, it's a location thing. Cities are open to all of these things - day in and day out. NONE of that, thank you. The only worries I have where we live are wild dogs and coyotes. He can move to a small country town and see just why people love it so much - then he'll be against outsiders, too, because the bigger your town gets the higher your risks for crime, etc. Keep the growth down = keeping the crime away and for some of us that's THE most important thing! *edit* Oh, yeah, I'm not racist - I don't go to church, own a gun or dislike people and I'm very open minded. I can't believe he said that. I live in a very small town, and you just cannot paint such a broad picture. Is a small town less diverse than a city? Of course. But to basically say that all small town people are gun-toting, bitter, Bible thumping, xenophobes.... are we SERIOUS? I don't really like him anyway, but ANYONE who can make a statement like that has NO right thinking they can run this country.
What an idiot.

I am so sick of all the campaigning and everything. Every person on the planet says stupid things, he is no exception. This will go into the "Stupid things they say" vault with everything else. Obama was never my ideal candidate anyway.
Or maybe I should just take the attitude that since he isn't talking about me, I don't care what he says. "As long as it doesn't effect me why should I care about it?" seems to be the attitude a lot of people have anymore.

I've always thought he was an idiot.
He speaks like an impassioned high schooler, and that's terrifying. Lots of CHANGE! and motivational speeches, no real substance or plans for HOW to bring it about. I'm not surprised, let's say that.Hillary said some dumb things last week, too-and let's not forget about Mr. McCentury. This race is worse than last time. Three idiots and not even a good independent to throw my vote away on.

Boy, it is scary to hear somebody have an attitude like that. To pigeon-hole "small towns" into a generic group like this is ignorant. (And I am not stating he is ignorant, but the statement is for clarification).
I do agree that EVERY candidate makes idiotic statements, this just happens to be one of the worst I have heard in awhile.....not that I was going to vote for him anyhow.

You can't win. Not to mention the fact that I am Atheist. I probably wouldn't ever win public office in this country being as openly Atheist as I am. At least not ANY time soon.
