"If you're voting for McCain, vote for Clinton"

My mom and sister said they both heard that on the radio yesterday.

Since McCain literally has the Republican nominee, he doesn't need to do anymore campaigning to win. It will be McCain vs ?.

So. Since the (apparently) majority of Republicans would rather have Obama than Clinton in the White House, they're asking fellow Republicans to vote for Clinton (instead of McCain) in the Primaries bc if Clinton gets the Democratic nod, she'll never beat McCain (according to this theory, obviously).

I tried Google but nothing came up

How does this make you feel?
Is this fair? Stupid? Cheating?

I think its dumb. It is sort of like cheating. Plus, for the people doing it, it could seriously backfire. Because I know a lot of the people voting for McCain would rather see Obama than Hilary win.

it IS sorta like cheating, but then again it's not. reminds me of the saying "life isn't fair"

the whole point is the people doing this are SURE if Clinton runs against McCain there's no way she'd make it. i agree they'd rather have Obama, but this is their "shoe in" or whatever to get what they want.

And I thought that you couldnt switch party votes in primaries...

You can in some states. In NH you can choose whatever party to vote for that day if you are an independent.
