Ok, so a friend and I were talking yesterday and she mentioned that it bothers her that he NEVER puts his hand over his heart during the national anthem..... I don't watch the debates and such from start the finish, I usually click between channels.....
So, has anyone else noticed this..... if so, what are your views on it? If this has been discussed already - I apologize for bringing a dead horse out to get a beating! ![]() Vote/Discuss |

I think you should. It really angers me when I see someone is not putting his or her hand over their heart.....
But this is what I was taught to do when I was younger. Maybe the respect or standards have dropped? I dont know......

I could care less and I think that crying about patriotism because of something this silly as if that would automatically make ANYONE not good enough to be President is divisive and completely irrelevant. It is such a dirty political tactic to use in my eyes. How about talking about some issues? (Not YOU Melinda, I am talking about the media.) Besides, how "free" is our country if we are FORCED to put our hands over our hearts for a national song to be considered a real American? Does that sound fascist to anyone else?

I love living in the US, I love this country, but I don't put my hand over my heart when the national anthem is being played. I don't think it means I am disrespecting the country, other wise that whole stadium filled with 18,000 people would be disrespecting this country, too.

I didn't even know most people put their hands over their heart during the National Anthem. It wasn't what I was taught, but I don't think that means I respect the Anthem or the country any less.Though I don't see anything wrong with doing so.To each his or her own
