Destination R&R - During Deployment

DH and I are planning on meeting in Ramstein Germany for his R&R. I was wondering if anyone has had experience with meeting their SO overseas. My main concern is the timing I dont want him to be waiting for me. He thinks it is going to take about 5 days to arrive from afghanistan. I plan on flying on on the 21th and arriving on the 22th of next month. He asked for his leave on the 19th. Does anyone know if this alots enough time for him to arrive??

it's really hard to say. My DF left his base in Iraq and then was stuck in Kuwait for 4 days waiting for a flight out (they kept getting cancelled etc.) so I would be more worried about YOU waiting for HIM than the other way around!

okay.. im planning on being there the Dec 21- Jan 11th so i hope that is enough time... Should i plan for longer?

Im also meeting my husband in germany, we are planning on spending most of his R&R in Italy!! But i was wondering the same thing.. I hate not knowing when to plan on being there.

Isn't this a violation of OPSEC to know your SO's exact R&R dates?

It took my Hubby about 3days to get to the states from Iraq..so it really varies.

Im kinda confused on how you think i posted the exact dates.. what i posted was when im going to be in europe.. If i knew his exact dates then im pretty sure i wouldnt be posting about how long it took to get from afghanistan to germany now would I\\

Well I thought you were saying the dates you were going to Europe to be with your DH, in which case your dates of flying would imply his dates of being there.. Regardless, it was just a question. No need for the attitude. Sorry if you thought I was being rude. I was just asking.

it's really really hard to say. R&R dates are never 100%. DF got pushed back by almost 2 weeks and then it took days to get out of the country and back to the US!
