who knew I joined a not-so-secret club??
I hadn't thought of this before but it's actually really comforting! The other day while I was at the post office sending my bf my first care package and filling out a million customs forms a woman came up to me and asked me if I had a loved one deployed. I guess she saw the flat rate military box! Then we started talking and she was telling me all about her son who is stationed in Korea. I stood there and talked to her for like 20 minutes. It was like we knew each other even though she was a stranger. It was really nice because she geniunely cared about what I was doing. I feel like having a loved one deployed is a very intimate connection, kind of a club, which I guess is why this website works

I get amused by the strangers who are like, "Your husband is in the army? My cousin/brother/sister/aunt/uncle/childhoodneighbor/dogwalker/etc. is in the army too! There name is Blah Blah Blah, do you know them?"

I love my little old post lady She ALWAYS remembered me. And told me about when her sons & husband were deployed.

OoOOo!!!! My DB is AF...does your hubby know him???? LoL...sorry, I had to do it!
I only go to the post office on base, so I dont get it a whole lot when I go there. Although if I go to the one off base, they know me by name, and we now have convos about how Ive decorated (or not decorated) my boxes. |

It is awesome! I love that. I mailed boxes from FL and AL when I was visiting family this summer and I got that at both post offices. Here everyone is deployed so they don't so much bat an eye about sending a box. Everyone is mailing them.
