I buy DH the AT&T phone cards from Sam's Club. I think it's like $30 for 1000 minutes. They usually last him a long time.

i offered to send db phone cards, but he refused. i think he uses at&t ones that he can refill online. he buys them like 1500 minutes at a time. lasts him about a month or so. i think the best thing is to allow him to buy his own at least at first and then let him tell you what he's getting and see if you can get it at home, too. the way i understand it, some phone cards don't work. or they eat up your minutes because he's overseas. so be careful.

where DH is in afghanistan phone card don't work at the phone centers, he had to prepay through some weird company to make phone calls home. but i hear the at&t phone cards work best. you can usually find them at most retail stores. (target, wal mart, grocery stores....)
