calling cards - During Deployment

which are better reg. calling cards or international calling cards anyone know?to send to our spouses overseas.

We always had to buy AT&T calling cards for dh. That is all I know.

Where is your wife stationed at? My DF is in the Navy and is in Kuwait. The base he is on has free phones for calling home. But thats rare. He also has his cell phone that he got a SIM card for using a Kuwaiti network. And the laptop is a life saver. I would say it depends on where she is at.

Try looking at your closest NEX.... I don't buy calling cards for DH because he has his cell when he's over there.. I do know that the AT&T ones work great, and they do have some international ones...

Edit: There's a call center on base in Bahrain where she can call you through DSN numbers... she'll have to find out a DSN number to call in your area, and then they'll patch her through to your home. DH did that A LOT during the last deployment. He called the DSN to NAS Corpus Christi, and they patched the call through to our house. Hope that helps!

I added an international rate to our home phone. It added it to our calling card so if my husband called from like Japan it was only 8 cents a minute, or 11 cents from Australia etc

We have the international plan added on to our home phone, it's an extra $4 or something a month, and it cuts the international rates just about in half...

Yes the DSN lines are great! My DF calls the Pentagon and and they patch him through to my number. Sometimes if we are lucky we can get a 4 hour phone call out of it.

DH called me EVERYDAY on DSN... LOL... It's awesome! We'd usually talk for about an hour each time, and that's a lot considering he's not a talkative guy!! LOL
