underway

My db is going to be underway a lot the next couple of months. He'll get to come home about once a week for a few days but the rest of the time he'll be away. This is my first real taste of separation. Can anyone help me out with what I should expect? He says he can email everyday and we can talk a couple nights a week on the phone. I just have no idea what to expect, even emotionally just dealing with him being away. I know it isn't deployment (I deal with that next year) so it shouldn't be that bad but getting used to even a week is going to be an adjustment.

Well my hubby has been gone since February, and I've heard his voice maybe 4-5 times. We e-mail each other on a daily basis (when e-mail on the ship isn't being retarted), and I've learned that no matter how much I cry it's not going to bring him home. So, my advice would be to go on with your daily schedule and keep your head up. Everything will be fine

take it day by day, and lean on us

you'll be okay... its not as bad as being deployed but seperation can be a good thing to.. gives you both a chance to miss and appriciate eachother a little more.

My hubby will be on a ton of works up this summer and will be going in and out all the time once i move down there in july . ive seen him maybe 4 times since he left for the navy in august and the last time was feb. Its hard but your best bet is to "go on with your daily schedule and keep your head up."Dont worry youll live

what is he on? subs? aircraft carrier?... keep a journal... each day write something in it... somedays you will write tons!!! other days you will write almost nothing... but its good to get everything out!!! good luck and im always here to chat... any particular questions ask away!

he's on a destroyer. i think that's the right terminology. that's a good idea. i was thinking about keeping an everyday journal for him while he's on deployment next year, with pictures and just something about the day and then sending it like once a month or something. does anyone know about mail delivery to ships?

Well the mail is funny it just depends on where they are and what they are doing. DH has been deployed a little over a month. I sent the first package a few days after he left and he just got that one last week. The one I sent last week he just got today I just depends All I can say is thank goodness for Email, it goes down every once in a while but you normally can talk daily. This is my first deployment with my DH, lots of work ups but never a deployment. I thought I was going to die, but you don't, you cry a lot and go on. Just keep yourself as busy as possible. I will be hard at first but remember it is harder on them. If you need to talk message me.

Awww...hun. I am going through my 4th patrol so far. Jason is in the CG and is overseas right now on a 3 month patrol. All I can say is keep busy, keep in touch with your support systems (family, friends, etc) and you 2 try your hardest to keep in touch with each other. With Jason and I, we mostly talk through e-mail because it is way too expensive to call internationally (he has called twice though). I'm here for you and everyone else on the site.
