gate passes - thanks! - During Deployment

I just wanted to say a *huge* thanks to all of you for mentioning the gate pass to see them off. Because of that, I was able to sit with DB for like 3 hours in the airport and watch him board the plane as he left to go back from R&R. Definitely helped both of our sanity and made the transition a bit more calm and such.

So thanks so much to you all!!!
Even though Im not too terribly active in posts, this website and all of you are a huge help and support!

Sorry to ask, but could you pass the info about that? MY DH is about to get R&R and I was wondering about that too...

I have no idea how to get passes to welcome them at the gate when they come in (maybe contact the TSA at the airport he's coming into). But as for seeing them off back to iraq/Kuwait/whereever, you can go to the TSA booth at the airport and they will give you a gate pass (you just need your military ID or a drivers license). They will give you apeice of paper you sign and they sign then to actually get through, you will need your DH along with you.

have fun with him during R&R!

Glad you were able to go to the gate and see him off that way instead of saying goodbye at the security check point.

For here, I go to the USO office at the airport and get a paper from them to take to the airlines. Then I go to the airlines and they take my military ID and do some stuff in the computer and print up a pass to get me through security.

I can't believe your R & R came and went already...time sure is flying. You are one lucky duck...he basically gets back over there in time to pack up and come back! The joys of having a later R & R.

for you for getting to see him off too!
