DF heard today that its very likely he'll go overseas(Iraq with Marines most likely). He's a hospital corpsman. Although after his training he'll be stationed at a hospital 40 mins from me..he'll be put on a "platform"? and then sent out most likely. I mean this isnt even close to being definite but just hearing it..I wanna roll over and die. He is excited, and it's what he wants, he wants to go over there and help people. I'm proud and honored to be his fiance because he's just such an honorable guy..but..I want him here. I'm being selfish,I know..I'm really trying to be supportive. I'm such a bad fiance. Well it's 2am and I have an 8am class,i'll try to sleep I guess.

I'm sorry. This is a part of the military life, and especially if he is a FMF corpsman, he will be sent with the Marines at some point. When they are FMF, no matter where they are stationed, they have to be with a platform. Now Bill's platform is Fleet Hospital Bremerton, but he was never sent with them. He was plucked from the command and sent with Marines from Camp Pendleton. I am here for you if you have any questions or concerns

Also, I wanted to add...
Just because he's on a platform doesn't mean he'll deploy. When DJ was at San Diego he was on Platform 5 and they deployed him to Cuba. Without the rest of his platform. Unfortunately this is the way it is: * New Corpsman * Not Married * No Kids * MALE He'll end up in Iraq or Afghanistan at some point during this war. It's a miracle that DJ's just been sent to Cuba so far. eta... Isn't he still *IN* Corps School? If his first duty station is a Hospital, it doesn't mean he's going any time soon. He'll still have to go TAD to Lejune or Pendleton to become FMF (Fleet Marine Force). And that is a 3 month class, if he passes. If not, they recycle him to the next class. If he fails that class, they take his cadeuces and he becomes a regular seaman on a ship.

He would never fail anything because this is his dream and he loves it. Why does his dream give me tummy aches? He wants to go over there. But he is only active for 15 months because he chose the National Call to Service Contract. I'm going to be as supportive as I can Thanks for your help
