how long?

May I ask how long your SO is home on average between deployments on sea duty?? We are one a 6 months in 6 months out rotation at his command here, and it's feeling a lil crazy to me when I let myself think about it... and the worst thing is the 6 months he is "home", he's actually only here for about 3...

Oh, and I am completely sorry if this comes across whiney. I know there is always someone out there with a worse situation... i am just curious on the average in the navy!

well we just came from 6 months out 12 months home, then it was 3 months out 9 months home but we werent at that command long enough for it to matter.

Now on the Stennis its not on "deployment" but the damn ship is always freakin out to sea. Like 1 week home, 4 weeks out, 2 weeks home, 2 weeks out, 3 weeks home, 6 weeks out............pain in the ass. Then we get to do the 6 (or more) month deployment

When Dh was at MSF he did lots of little missions. Once they got commissioned he was deployed for like 2 months here 1 week mission there home for a month for school another 1 week mission, 2 weeks of Training 7.5 month deployment to Iraq home for 2.5 months, training for a month, a 1 month mission, home for a couple of weeks, 2 week mission. Home for 2 months, 1 month of school, another month of training, and then about a month of you are deploying next week, then the day of saying good bye at the airport oh no wait the plane is broke go home and we will try again next week, This went on for almost a full month. finally the airforce got a plane in there that didn't break. So it sucked ass at times lol. But at this point Dh and I both prefer Sea Duty over shore ANYDAY

My husband is out 3 months and in for 5 months but those 5 months can be 2 months sometimes.

dh is a seabee so it's 10 months homeport, 6 months deployment

In 2002 the ship came back in August and then left for the next deployment June 2004. In between those two times it left like 8 times. The ship came back in December 2004, he left the ship in December 2005 and the ship had left another 6 times by the time he left. All of them ranged from 1 week to 3 weeks, too.

I agree with April. Our dh's are on the same ship. It seems like he's never home!

Why Sea Duty over Shore duty???

Once my DFs schedule is set (his sub is being recommisoned (sp) so it goes out for mini cursies) it will be three months out, three months home. Its not a boomer its a new sub class called SSGN but it runs on boomer schedule.
