It's my first experience too. Some of the greatest advice I've gotten is to spend the last days with each other and don't push each other away. Enjoy them, don't spend the entire time dreading the inevitable! Keep your head up!

    How is everybody else doing?

I had an ex partner who was NG and deployed in 08-09. When the deployment was over I thought at the time that I'd never have to deal with that ever again (ex's enlistment would end before another one occurred) I would've thought or hoped that things would be easier to deal with this time around.

I'm really glad to have found this online support system. Has it been helpful to all of you during past and current deployments to have a resource like this online to talk with others who are experiencing some of the same things you are?

When I went through it the first time I didn't know the other SO's of my ex's unit, and didn't seek out a support system, I didn't know much about the military or how a deployment worked. I just sort of winged it. Looking back, I wish I had sought out a support group the first time around. A lot of what I've seen advised here regarding how to handle a deployment I unfortunately learned by trial and error. Although there are many good FRG's the FRG for my ex's unit wasn't very helpful to me at that time.
