He hasn't answered my simple questions

My DB left for deployment/underway whatever you want to call it in July. This is my first time going through all of this so I have asked him a few questions in our last few emails and he hasn't answered them. I think they are simple questions maybe not though:

When you pull into port will you be calling from your cell phone (he did bring it) or a calling card? I don't normally answer unknown phone calls so I need to know if it's a calling card he will be calling from so I can start answering them.

Can you use a webcam and talk on Skype?

Can you get regular mail?

Am I overreacting again? Do you have any answers to my questions? I understand he is really busy out there and that's why I don't want to harass him about these questions just yet.

Just answer all calls until you know. I don't know much about ships/underways. I know it's rough waiting for contact but don't obsess over these things when you talk to him.

Usually when db is pulling in or close to pulling into port he is very busy and never usually answers my questions and it drives me crazy!!! So i know how frustrating that can be! its my first time too.I now answer all unknown number just in case!!

If he calls, it'll be from the ship or a calling card. So I'd just answer.

There is no messaging systems allowed on the ship. So the only way he can Skype is if he finds an internet cafe.

And if it's a deployment, or he'll be gone for a good amount of time, he will be able to receive snail mail/care packages.

I hope that helps. My husband is horrible with answering my questions. What I try to do if I have multiple questions to ask him, I'll either bold them.. Or I'll send an email with JUST the questions & number them. They normally get answered that way. I also found that he won't answer questions if I send them in one email, and then send a few others after that before he see's the email with questions.

I know its hard, but don't freak out. Because chances are he's just being a boy and not realizing that you need these questions answered.

It usually freaks me out too but you just gotta breathe and ask again. and again if necessary.

Seriously..most guys just don't think that some women like to be prepared and especially when it's situations we don't know anything about.

I don't think it's any thing personal, he's just busy, I think he'll answer when he gets a chance.

In the mean time maybe look on here for some girls with guys on the same ship, they may be able to help you more too.

There are phones on the ship they can use at a cost and when they are available. As far as port goes a calling card works best, collect calls are $$$$$$

I do not believe so. But get in touch with his commands FRG. Perhaps they are participating in Video Telephone Conferences

Yes! Care packages are great! Contact your local post office and request the one rate boxes.


Sometimes when they leave it is a little stressful and working long hours for them does not help. Don't over react and ask your questions here. Remember he needs support right now. I can tell you there are questions I ask my DH and it takes him days to answer........and we have been doing this for 16 years!!!!

He can use his cell phone but will pay the international rate for whatever country he in. He can use calling cards or whatever. I agree with the ladies, just answer the phone.

He can use webcam/skype if he has an equipped laptop and goes to a location in port where he can get internet access. No, he can't do that on a military computer.

Yes he can get regular mail. They usually get it when they pull into port. So you can write all you want, send care packages the works....he will love it. Just remember that he may open the packages around the guys so pack with that in mind and if you send anything naughty, package it and mark it open alone.
