Need help! Please...
Ok girls.. I'm at a total loss for where to go next.
One of Justin's friends just called me. Justin's best friend was in a pretty bad motorcycle accident today, they don't even know if he is going to make it yet... so I need to get a hold of Justin. I called the number he left me for his unit. The guy was worthless. He said that e-mail is the quickest and basically ONLY way to get in touch with them, and I just need to be patient. Is that true? Or is there another channel here I'm missing??? And how in the HELL do I even tell him this when I do get a hold of him??? Hes going to completley fall apart, and I'm 15 billion miles away and totally worthless when it comes to helping him! Has anyone else dealt with something like this during deployment?? Help! Anyone???

I shouldn't use Red Cross if I'm not his wife? Why is that??
Not doubting or questioning you... just sincerely curious. Still learning all of this.

Red Cross is for family members, however, if it was his Mom and/or Dad who was hurt, I'd get a hold of DB via Red Cross, girlfriend status be damned. I would not use it for his best friend. I'd send an email, try to get a hold of someone else in his unit (I have a couple of them on my Facebook) and have them hunt him down. Hell, at this point, I know a couple of other girls here with guys in the same Brigade. I'd have THEM hunt him down, even though they are in different Battalions.

The other thing to bear in mind is that your boyfriend isn't going to be able to leave theater for anyone other than an immediate family member. All you're going to do is upset him and he'll be powerless to do anything but call his friend's family. Be sure you want him to know. It sounds mean, but it's true. If it does more harm than good...it's worth weighing when to tell him.

The good news is.. I just got off the phone with my contact. They were able to get his friend awake for a little bit, but have him back out now for surgery... So, its not fantastic, but waking up is a good sign. Thanks for the help girls. My initial instinct was to work thru it before panicking, so I thought I would say it here first and see if I was just being silly. AND.. I learned in the process. Can't beat that.
