My husband left for Kuwait/Qatar on Tuesday and I have only spoken to him once. This is my first experience with deployment and I am having a hard time keeping sane. I miss him so much and am trying really hard to be strong, but it is so hard waking up in the morning without him here. Or going to bed at night for that matter. I know I need to keep busy, but I broke my ankle in Oct and can't get around very much for at least another month...
Does anyone have advice? Also, he's in communications, so he said that he will be able to call pretty often (he thinks), but I am worried that I haven't heard from him. Is that reasonable? Should I try to be more patient? I am going crazy!! Thanks. |

hey...my db left like a month ago and its my first deployment tooo...i think its normal for him not to be able to call...they have to get settled, sleep a lot to get used to the time difference...and get accustomed to the area...I really wouldn't worry about it for real...he will call you when he is able to im sure...
pm me if you want to talk

Welcome to the boards
Deployments are never easy and 1st one is always harder. At least it was for me. It might take him a couple of more days to get adjust with everything so comunication might be limited even more at 1st. We know what you are going through. You wont be the "new wife" around here just one more of us. Stick around and you will find a great support group here! |

Thanks so much. I looked at another spouse support website, but the people here just seem much more my style. I'm not a typical "army wife" and I just really need people who have an idea of what I'm going through. I am so glad I found this website.
