Found out today DH is getting deployed in a few months...{tears}

Well DH came home today and said he is going to Afghanistan in a few months. He did a year in Korea, but I know this is not going to be anything like that was. I seriously am trying to hold back my tears right now. I knew it was coming since he is in the military, but I know so many people who's SO have never been deployed. Well any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

Deep breaths.......in and out. Ok. You must realize that you both will go through alot of emotions and they are all normal.

I envoke the 24 hour rule in my house. Whenever dh comes home with new orders/change in routine ect...I get 24 hours to then that's it. No more complaining about it prior to his departure. Makes him feel less like he's "done something wrong" when in fact he's doing his job. So get out all your frustrations over the next 24 hours then pick up and move on. (you might want to explain to him the "new" rule! )

Take the next few months to make a million special moments that will be a source of comfort as memories while you are apart.

hang in there .. the pre deployment is the worst.. Once he leaves you will get settled into a routine and he'll be home before you know it. Stay positive and keep busy. We are all here for you.

I liked your rule. I put it into action in my house too. I scream, yell, slam doors, and do whatever else I need to do and then I pick myself up, find some big girl panties and keep on, keepin' on.
