I just found out today and I really don't know what to do.

that DB is being deployed not once but possibly twice within the next year (2010).

He had drill/promotional ceremony in Green Bay over the weekend and they were supposed to let him know whether or not he was going to be going to Afghanistan in January or not. Well I get a text from DB on Sunday telling me that he had just been promoted :jump for joy and that's when I asked him if he had heard anything about deployment. Here's our conversation...

Him: Baby they don't know for sure
Me: What do you mean
Him: My staff Sargent wants me and a couple others to go but they don't know yet
Me: Baby,I understand that "they don't know yet," but I need to know if it looks like you're going to be going or not.
Him: Baby it looks like I will be
Me: Okay
Him: Baby everything will be okay
Me: I know
Him: Baby you know that I will be writing to you everyday that I can
Me: I know...
Him: Good and baby I don't want to say this
Me: What just say it
Him: It's going to be a huge test mostly for you to be strong day by day, night by night while I'm over there
Me: I know baby

Then he called me today after I got done with class and told me that he had just found out that after he gets done with that deployment that 4 months later his whole unit will be being deployed. He hasn't told me any of the specifics, just that he's going to be being deployed if not in January then in late July or early August (if not both). Which means He's going to miss my birthday, my graduation, everything. But like I told him this is something that he wants to do and I'm going to support him 150%

That's rough. I wouldn't start worrying too much yet until you find out for sure if and when he'll be deploying. That will just make the time you do have together even harder.

I hear ya on that! Thank you so much! I have a friend here in Ohio whose DB is stationed in Alaska for the Air Force and she's been EXTREMELY supportive through out this whole thing. Honestly I don't know what I'd do without any of you girls

Im kinda confused on the time frames of each deloyment

because its still SO far away...im gonna guess that its most likely not going to happen the way he thinks. theres always lots of rumors, dont believe em.

its not common to get deployed, come home, and get deployed again THAT shortly after. doesnt mean it never happens...but, yall both have a lot of time left and dates/rumors will continue to float around. dont believe anything until he has orders.

That really sucks and did happen to us. He deployed last year in sept came back in December. Then deployed this year in April. So he got to be home for almost 4 months. It sucks but you can do it .

It's REALLY unlikely that he'll deploy for both. I've NEVER heard of someone who came home and went back in the same month.

My DH just got back in March, and will be leaving again in May maybe sooner, SO I know how you feel. I hate depolyments so much. But as long as you stay strong and support him, then things will be ok.

I would not start freaking out yet until you have orders in hand, DH was going to deploy for x amount of time and then come home and then go back and blah blah blah, and none of it happened the way they initially said it was going to happen...
