our first deployment, & so soon. - Deployment Preparation

i hate his unit, they dont give you much notice, & take forever to make up their mind, but he got conformation today that he is deploying soon, like pretty soon, it sucks. & of course has to happen over the holidays & all that. of course you always know that it can happen, but it still sucks & even can suprise you when it does happen. didnt think i'd be a "single parent" this soon. i mean he's almost deployed so many times with this unit & it always falls out & they send someone else, or give it to another shop even though he's volunteered many times before. he's kinda pissed that they didnt send him before when he wasnt married & a dad. he's been in a lil over 3 years & this is the first time he's deploying, which is a good thing of course but sucks for us now. we both hate he'll be missing some of her firsts
& even though like i said you always know this could happen, & you knew this could happened when you married a soldier, dosent make it any easier. especially with a new baby. i'm just so happy that he was here for her birth, that was definitely a blessing.(b/c he almost wasnt, they wanted to send him earlier this year & he would have missed her birth, but it worked out that they didnt send him then.)

I'm sorry. But you're a strong woman and you'll figure out ways to manage without him being around.

wow that really stinks. Im sorry he is going to miss some of your DD first. I really hope he gets leave before he has to go

I am dreading our first deployment. and i have a strong feeling its around the corner..

We're going through our first also. Our youngest just turned one so missing alot of "firsts" is a concern for my hubby also(oh, even though he's 1...he refuses to walk and he only has two bottom teeth...lol....he's a lazy little boy)

thanks! i know i can be strong & am, just sucks ya know. & ya even though she's nowhere near the "big" firsts like walking or anything like that, it stinks he'll miss her first christmas & all that. & with the way she trys now, i have a feeling she'll be crawling earlier than i would like,lol.

aww im sorry! im dreading our first deployment too.. he is leaving next summer. im just thankful that i know i have a year to spend with him here before he goes.. it sucks!
how is your baby doing by the way? i wish we could have met up more then just that one get together while i was there!
