Deployed so soon?

My DF is still in BCT, graduates in the middle of october, and is getting deployed to iraq by the beginning of december. How is it he's getting sent so soon? I feel like that's not normal, cuz its not his entire platoon or w.e going, its only a few of them.....whats up with that? I'm terrified he's not going to be experienced enough to be safe over there.... its unfair.

um, if he's still in boot, theres no way for him to know that.

the DS called him and like 4 other guys into his office and told them this last saturday

Thats what I thought I never jump to conclusions because I was not with DH when he went through boot but I was 99.9% sure that was the deal.

Really?? That;s odd..

But it's what the army wants..

I know my soldier is getting deployed in december, but he's been telling me he's gonna leave like november, so i'm confused too..

But if anything, you and him should talk it out, so you wouldn't be so lost, and if he doesn't understand, then he needs to find out too lol.

he's not even at his first duty station yet. as far as i know, DI's have ZERO say about where and when you deploy.

How long have you two been together? Sounds a lot like your DB is trying to sound like a bad ass and say he is being deployed when he isn't even at his job yet. So unless he is some miracle special situation then this sounds like a lie.

Yeah something about that sounds really strange. He hasn't been assigned a duty station or a unit yet. I know DB didn't know his unit until a week after he arrived at his first duty station. I hope you are able to get it figured out. Don't worry about it too much until you have some more information. It would be very very strange for this to be the case.

This is what he told me: got called into the DS office to A- be told his grandpa died and B- was told that he would be in iraq by the beginning of december, along with a couple other guys who were called into the office. he is in week 7 of BCT. He was told he'd be going to Ft. Stewart GA as his post and training there for an amount of time and then ship out to Iraq to join a unit that will have gotten deployed a few weeks before him....
